Local Missions Opportunities at Kingsland

• Alpha House — Alpha House, located in the Montrose area, is a ministry of Harbor Church. It is an intentional Christian residential program for those in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse. Alpha House fosters a family environment where healthy relationship skills are modeled, taught and practiced. Ultimately, the Alpha House ministry seeks to teach residents how to think, act, and live like Jesus. Alpha House moved to a new location in the Montrose area in May 2006. Kingsland volunteer teams assisted Alpha House in renovating the building that serves as the new home to this ministry.

• Extreme Blessing: Home Edition — Opportunities to participate in home makeover initiatives to selected individuals in need of home repair.
 
• Fourth Ward Urban Alliance — Partnership with Pastor Elmo Johnson and Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Houston's Fourth Ward. Our partnership includes servanthood evangelism and joint ministry initiatives to grow God's kingdom in Houston's inner city.

• Generation One — Partnership with Mike Malkemes and Generation One, a ministry to children in Houston's Third Ward. Kingsland volunteer teams are assiting with the renovation of an after-school center for children.

• Harmony Baptist Church — Partnership with Pastor John Carpenter and Harmony Baptist Church located in the Lockwood and 610 area of Houston. Our partnership includes assisting Harmony Baptist Church with the completion of their worship facility.

• Jesus Film Distribution — Our Missions Ministry is offering a free copy of the Jesus Film with a bag of microwave popcorn to every apartment resident in Katy throughout 2007. Every month we send a mailer to apartment residents inviting them to request a free copy of the Jesus Film. We personally deliver a copy of the Jesus Film to each resident who requests a copy. Our Missions MInistry also provides complimentary copies of the Jesus Film to those who visit the Pregnancy Help Center of West Houston.

• Katy Christian Ministries — KCM offers various opportunities for you to invest your time, talent, and energy toward making a difference in people's lives. God can use you to make a difference in our community by volunteering to serve in KCM's food pantry and resale shops, or social services, domestic abuse, or sexual assault programs. • Kingsland Kids on Mission — Opportunities for parents and their children to be involved in local missions initiatives.

• The King's Quilters — The King's Quilters work year round to provide the comfort of handmade blankets to the Pregnancy Help Center in Katy. The King's Quilters are a 100% volunteer organization which meet the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month in the Burns Conference Room. The King's Quilters recently made baby blankets delivered to our pregnancy help center in Kampala, Uganda by our Uganda 2006 and 2007 mission teams. • Pregnancy Help Center of West Houston—Kingsland Baptist Church received the "Spirit of Life" Award from the Pregnancy Help Center of West Houston. The award was presented to Kingsland at the Pregnancy Help Center's annual banquet on Sunday, October 1, 2006. The award recognizes Kingsland's support of the Pregnancy Help Center of West Houston and our new partnership with Life International to open "The Comforter's Center," a pregnancy help center in Kampala, Uganda.
