Pastoral Staff

Alex Kennedy, Senior Pastor
Alex transitioned into his role as Senior Pastor in March of 2003 after serving as Associate Pastor for Marriage and Family. His relationship with Christ started when a fellow high school student named John cared enough to build a friendship with him. Alex was then discipled through his involvement with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where he ran track and majored in Physical Education. After graduation, he received his Masters in Biblical Studies from Regent University in Virginia. Alex's favorite role is that of husband and daddy. His passion is to reach Katy for Christ "one home at a time." He's been married to Christy for twenty-four years and their four children are Joy, Zach, Anna Grace, and Lexi.
Doyle Lowry, Executive Pastor

Doyle joined the Kingsland staff in
July of 2001. He grew up in Oklahoma but is a native of Texas who
received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayland Baptist University in
Plainview, Texas and a Masters of Arts in Religious Education from
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. Before
coming to Kingsland, he served churches in Oklahoma and Texas. Doyle is
responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, management, and
decision-making for church policies, programs and staff. He partners
with the Senior Pastor to communicate the church's purpose and vision
to the congregation and community. His primary responsibilities include
program and staff coordination, pastoral care, administration, and
communications. Doyle and his wife, Kay, have three children, Jared,
Kristen, and Erin.
Patrick McCrory, Pastor of Spiritual Formation

Patrick has been on staff since May 2004. He served as Student Pastor until Spring of 2011. He now serves as Pastor of Spiritual Formation. This involves vision casting, adult volunteer development and Milestone ministry development. Patrick received his B.B.A. in Management from Baylor University and a M.A. in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He married his wife Shannon in 1996. They are a team in every sense of the word and share a common passion for family. Patrick and Shannon added to their family on October 25, 2008 with the adoption of their beautiful daughter, Evie. In June of 2011 they brought home their 2nd daughter, Ellie, from Ethiopia. They are also currently in the process of adopting a baby girl China. We are so thankful in watching the faithfulness of the Lord as He adds to their family!
Worship

Josh Stewart, Worship Pastor

Josh joined the Kingsland staff in May of 2009. Josh previously served as a
Worship Associate at Johnson Ferry Baptist in Marietta, Georgia. Josh
graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX in
May of 2004 and completed a Masters of Arts in Worship Studies at
New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in December of 2010. Josh has a passion for a
lifestyle of worshiping God and
investing into the lives of people through meaningful relationships.
Josh
is married to Lacey whom he met at college and they have two sons, Gavin and Titus. Josh enjoys spending time with his family and can be heard down most hallways singing a song.
Generational
Barbara Brennan, Minister to Preschool

As Minister to Preschool, Barbara oversees education programs for
Birth-Kindergarten. A native Texan with a Bachelor's degree in
Elementary Education from West Texas State University, she taught 1st.
grade for 8 years, then worked as a homemaker and CEC teacher before
joining the staff in 1996.
Barbara and her husband Bob have been members of Kingsland since 1985.
They have two sons, Matt who lives in Harlingen with wife Sara, and
their sons Zachariah & Kai and Mark who lives in Dallas.

Paul Cockrell, Student Teaching Pastor

Paul has been on staff since January of 2002 serving in the student ministry. Currently, he is serving as the Student Ministry Teaching Pastor. His role includes overseeing Wednesday night activities including Fuel and Student Ministry Teams, family devotional writings, and guys' pastor. He is a Katy-ite who graduated from Taylor High School in 1994. Paul is very passionate about the work he does, especially at Kingsland, because God radically changed his life through Kamp Kingsland 1992. It was here that he gave his life to the Lord. Paul went to college at Southwest Texas State University (not Texas State University) where he continued to grow in his faith.
In 2000, Paul married "the most beautiful woman in the world," Marisa. Their family has been blessed by the addition of three handsome boys, Kaleb, Caden and Grayson. When Paul is not working he enjoys spending time with his bride and playing with his boys which usually means lots of wrestling matches.
Trisha Stevens, Student Discipleship Minister

Trisha joined the Kingsland team in April 2007 as the Student Discipleship Minister. She has a passion to lead girls to be God honoring young women and for discipleship. Trisha's primary responsibilities include giving leadership to KSM Life Groups, the KSM Prayer ministry, and to the girls' ministry. Trisha has a Family, Child and Consumer Sciences degree from LSU and a Master of Divinity in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Trisha is married to Jordan who is a middle school teacher and currently attending seminary. Trisha enjoys running, date nights with her husband and hanging out with students. They welcomed the arrival of their first son, Judah, on January 17, 2011.
Brian Stone, Single Adult Pastor

Brian joined the Kingsland Team in June of 2008. He has the exciting opportunity to serve a wide range of singles to live out their life in Christ. He specifically serves those who are in college, never married, separated, divorced, widowed, or parents who are single. Brian is a native Texan and grew up in Katy, attending Mayde Creek High School. He graduated from Texas State University and Dallas Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Holly, met in Stillwater, Oklahoma and were married in October 2007. They enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, watching movies, reading at the coffee shop, and exercising together. Brian also enjoys watching sports and playing a pick a game of soccer or a round of golf with friends whenever possible. He and his wife Holly have one daughter, Julia and are expecting their second child in 2011.
Josh Allen, Adult Discipleship Pastor

Josh joined the Kingsland Team in early 2007 as the Adult Discipleship
Pastor. He has the privilege of equipping ABF leaders and overseeing
the adult discipleship process at all ages. He also has the
opportunity to impact Kingsland guests by leading our welcome
ministries. Josh graduated from Baylor University and Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and his beautiful wife Jessie met at
Baylor and were married in July 2000. God has blessed them with two
amazing daughters, Josie and Joy and an amazing son, Joel. Josh and Jessie enjoy
spending time with each other, their children and friends. With any
spare time, Josh enjoys running, an occasional game of golf, and any
excuse to be outside.

Mike Kelley, Senior Adult Pastor

Mike joined the Kingsland team in January of 2005 to minister with
senior adults after retiring with 42 years in the automobile business.
The Lord and age have given Mike a caring heart for ministering with
senior adults. Mike also oversees the hospital visitation ministry at
Kingsland. He and Mary have been members of Kingsland since 1979, and
they have two children. Their daughter, Marian, and her husband, Scott,
have given them three wonderful grandchildren. Their son, Matt, lives
in Montana and he has given them two grand-dogs. Mike is a graduate of
East Texas State University with a degree in business and psychology.
He is active in mentoring and enjoys spending his spare time with his
grandchildren, researching family history, reading, and playing a
little golf.
Missions

Omar Garcia, Missions Pastor

Omar joined the Kingsland staff in July of 2005. He grew up in McAllen,
Texas and is a graduate of Pan American University and Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary. Omar served churches in the ministry of
Christian education for 27 years, has written magazine articles and
adult Bible study lessons for LifeWay Christian Resources since 1995, and maintains BibleTeachingNotes.com,
a popular website for teachers and Bible students. He has led several
Sunday Schools to embrace the Great Commandment and the Great
Commission and to minister beyond the boundaries of the church campus.
Omar helps to mobilize more than 3000 Kingsland volunteers annually to serve others through local and international ministry initiatives. He is deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve God in the areas of missions
and evangelism at Kingsland Baptist Church.

Jon Davis, Missions Ministry Associate

Jon
joined the Kingsland staff in 2008. He and his wife Amanda have been
members of Kingsland since 2002. They have 2 wonderful children, Gracie
and Ethan. Jon spent more than 10 years in retail management before
leaving the corporate world for full-time vocational ministry. Jon's
most recent position as a Store Manager for Lowe's helped prepare him
for his current role as Kingsland's Missions Ministry Associate.
In the
Spring of 2009, Jon began his seminary training at Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary. When he is not leading volunteers to
serve locally and internationally, Jon enjoys time with his family,
watching movies, and fishing.
Recreation
Paul Crandall, Recreation Pastor

Paul has been the Recreation Pastor since September of 2001. He
oversees the Recreation Ministry by coordinating all recreation and
fitness events. He is also responsible for the sports camps Kingsland
offers. His main function as the Recreation Pastor is to "Build up the
Body." When not at work, Paul is usually with his biggest
fans, his wife Christy and three children, Abby, Jack & Jonathan.
He graduated from the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Kinesiology and also graduated from The Cooper
Institute for Aerobics Research as a certified personal trainer. Paul
is currently pursuing his masters degree in counseling at Liberty
University. In between spending time with God and family, Paul will
catch a few ball games on ESPN.
Counsel & Care

Susan Sowell, M.A.L.P.C.-S,
Director of Counsel & Care

Susan joined the Kingsland Staff in 2006. Susan oversees the Care Ministries and counseling needs at Kingsland. Susan also oversees the Marriage Ministry at Kingsland, which includes helping engaged couples prepare for their marriage through the Preparing for Marriage Program. Susan's passion is to help individuals, couples and families walk in truth and wholeness as they follow Christ. Susan and her husband Terry met and married at Kingsland in 1991 and are blessed with two children Caleb (18) and Jessica (16). Susan has an undergraduate degree in Education from University of Texas at Tyler and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A & M University. Susan completed the additional educational and training required for licensure and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the State of Texas.
