Kingsland Ministries

One of our favorite sayings here is, "We must grow smaller as we grow larger." Our prayer for you is that through your "discovery process" you find a ministry that will provide the great relationships that we all need.

Ryan Cook

Student Pastor

Ryan is a native Houstonian. Around age 8 he asked Christ to come into his life and save him from the consequences of his sins. As he got older he came to realize the full extent of the decision he had made and how life-changing it would be. By the time he graduated from Jersey Village High School in 1997 he had been through many ups and downs in his journey with Jesus, but the Lord was faithful and merciful and set his life on a path that has been nothing short of amazing. He attended the University of Tulsa to play football and get his education. There he met the most beautiful girl on campus - his future wife, Ashlie. After graduating and spending 2 years in Colorado the Lord opened a door for them to move back to Houston and begin serving at a great church in Sugar Land. They moved there in June of 2004 to serve at Sugar Creek Baptist in the student ministry. Ryan served as both the worship pastor and spiritual formations pastor for the student ministry there. He was able to pursue his education and received his Masters from Southwestern Seminary in May of 2009. Then in 2010 they were blessed by the birth of their son, Peyton. He is a wonderful joy to them. In March of 2012 God opened another door for the Cook's to come serve here at Kingsland Baptist. Ryan, Ashlie, and Peyton are looking forward to building great relationships with the families of Kingsland and can hardly wait to see what God has planned for them in this next season of ministry. In what little free time he has, Ryan likes to work out and try to play golf – the key word being "try."

Paul Cockrell

Student Ministry Teaching Pastor

Paul has been on staff since January of 2002 serving in the student ministry. Currently, he is serving as the Student Ministry Teaching Pastor. His role includes overseeing Wednesday night activities including Fuel and Student Ministry Teams, family devotional writings, and guys' pastor. He is a Katy-ite who graduated from Taylor High School in 1994. Paul is very passionate about the work he does, especially at Kingsland, because God radically changed his life through Kamp Kingsland 1992. It was here that he gave his life to the Lord. Paul went to college at Southwest Texas State University (not Texas State University) where he continued to grow in his faith.

In 2000, Paul married "the most beautiful woman in the world," Marisa. Their family has been blessed by the addition of three handsome boys, Kaleb, Caden and Grayson.  When Paul is not working he enjoys spending time with his bride and playing with his boys which usually means lots of wrestling matches.
