Kamp 2017 Opening Rally

High School Kamp 2017
Junior High Kamp 2017
Kamp for students currently in 6th-12th grades
Monday, June 5 11am - Friday, June 9 12:30pm

Day 1
Kamp 2017 is off and running! Yesterday could not have gone smoother. Everyone got here safely and we opened up Kamp with our traditional Kamp rally! Be sure to ask your sons and daughters what “Full House” and “Mayhem” had to do with our rally! We got everyone settled in their cabins, had some free time and grabbed some dinner. Then it was off to our evening celebrations! We worshipped and praised the Lord. Curtis Lane (JH Speaker) and Justin Laib (HS Speaker) taught from 1 John and shared about our fellowship with God and how we can experience Him in a deeper way. I believe both of them have introduced our theme “Koinonia” well. It’s going to be fun seeing where the Lord takes us this week! There’s a good sense of community between all of the students here. With four churches present, you never know how everyone is going to “gel,” but our first indications are that these students really do want to hear from God and grow together. Finally, we had an all staff meeting last night and shared some stories of how God is already at work in many of the hearts of our students. Parents and friends, please be praying that God’s Spirit would continue to move and minister in and through the lives of our students and leaders!

Day 2
Parents, Family and Friends!
Day two is officially in the books and what a great day it was! I’m happy to report that God is moving in big ways! Both high school and junior high hosted panels for our morning and afternoon sessions. These panels consist of our speakers and staff and we answer questions straight from students. Students write down their deepest and most pressing questions and the panels attempt to answer them throughout the week. We have some very deep and personal questions coming from students. Please keep our panelists in prayer as they attempt to point students towards Jesus. Of course, yesterday was the first day for “rec” and students were pumped up to compete for the championship trophy! All teams competed ferociously, but with excellent team spirit! It’s a joy to watch their energy and passion.
The best part of our day was the evening sessions. Our speakers, Justin Laib (HS) and Curtis Lane (JH), continued to teach through 1 John and focused in on the “God of Light.” Both speakers encouraged students in the Gospel, their identity and of course, living in the light. We had some students making commitments to follow Jesus and some students making commitments to stop living in darkness. Naturally, we had to celebrate the evening with a “neon” dance party (JH) and late night pool/fun fest party (HS)! Parents, family and friends, there is a sense that our students have a deep hunger to not just know about God, but to know God and experience Him. Please continue to pray that God’s Spirit would continue to move on all of our hearts – students and leaders – and that every single person would come back from Kamp changed!

Day 3
Dear Parents, Family and Friends!
Wednesday is in the books! What a great Wednesday it was! We are still having an unbelievably amazing time and getting to see God do some very significant things: Students are finding Jesus, bringing hidden sin to light and asking for prayer and help. They’re taking actual steps in their faith to draw closer to God: forgiving others, seeking counsel and walking in community. Our koinonia (fellowship) with God here is VERY apparent as it’s starting to be reflected in and through each other (the Body of Christ). Tonight we cap off a great week in our last session talking about living by the God of light and love. We’ll celebrate communion together and then we’ll be commencing with our traditional candlelight walk! In case you didn’t know, you can catch tonight’s evening session live here: http://www.kingsland.org/kamp
Parents, I really hope you'll sit down with your sons and daughters after this week and talk about what they heard, saw and experienced at Kamp. Nothing will help solidify the decisions that were made here better than knowing they have the support of their biggest fans back home. Our work here is almost done, but as always, it’s been an ongoing work by the Holy Spirit and it’ll be your work when they get home. As always, thank you for allowing your kids to join us this week and know we’re praying for you and can’t wait to see what comes from this week!

Day 4
Well, last night was our final night here at Kamp! And it was a fitting end to a wonderful week! At our evening sessions, we talked about living by the God of light and love and shared communion with one another. It was a great way to celebrate not only our Koinonia (fellowship) with God, but with one another. Of course, as tradition, we celebrated our Candlelight walk around the lake where seniors were blessed and honored and then led us through the procession.
On top of all this, we had 4 churches worshipping together all week: Bethel, The Fellowship, Katy Community Fellowship and Kingsland. There was a great sense of community between all the churches involved. From cabin assignments, to rec games and free time, to our evening sessions and bunk downloads, students really got along very well this week. We can’t attribute any of that to anyone else but our Father in Heaven who was listening to many prayers for the week! Parents, once again, please have some conversations with your sons and daughters about what transpired throughout the week. There are many great stories to be told! Don’t forget we’ll have a Reflections Service this Sunday at 6pm here at Kingsland to celebrate all that transpired throughout this week! We hope to see you there!
